Our Director, Rick Harrell heads for the East Coast for two weeks of meetings to promote Heroes’ Voices. The first stop is in New Hampshire, where he will be meeting and brainstorming with Rusty Rolland. Then it’s on to New York City, where he will be meeting with a number of supporters, including Advisor Marc Krause, from the National Jewish Health Center. The National Jewish Health Center, (one of the leading pulmonary treatment centers in the world) just launched an important initiative to provide medical intervention to returning Veterans who suffer from lung injuries. Lung injuries are all too common for those who have served in conflict areas. Rick will also be meeting with representatives from the Institute for Music and Neurological Function, an organization doing groundbreaking work in the field of Music Therapy, particularly as it relates to Veterans’ issues. Finally, he goes to Washington, D.C., where he will be meeting with a representatives from the military, Congress and the VA, including our Advisor, Colonel A.J. Darden at Walter Reed Hospital. He will also be participating in a seminar at the War College in Quantico, Virginia with Dr. Clyde Coswell. Dr. Coswell is a Professor with the Human and Organizational Learning Program. He served 28 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was the Administrator of the U.S. Marine Bands. In addition, he will be meeting with Major Nicole Stoneburg, Defense Legislative Fellow in Senator Barbara Boxer’s office, and with Kathryn Becker Van Haste, Elvin Valenzuela and Elizabeth Austin from the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
